چکیده

The high power per mode of a recently developed 10 GHz femtosecond Ti:sapphire frequency comb permits nonlinear Doppler-free saturation spectroscopy in Rb with a single mode of the comb. We use this access to the natural linewidth of the rubidium D2 line to effectively stabilize the optical frequencies of the comb with an instability of 7 10−12 in 1 s of averaging. The repetition rate is stabilized to a microwave reference leading to a stabilized and atomically referenced comb. The frequency stability of the 10 GHz comb is characterized using optical heterodyne with an independent self-referenced 1 GHz comb. In addition, we present alternative stabilization approaches for high repetition rate frequency combs and evaluate their expected stabilities.

Offset frequency dynamics and phase noise properties of a self-referenced 10 GHz Ti:sapphire frequency comb.

This paper shows the experimental details of the stabilization scheme that allows full control of the repetition rate and the carrier-envelope offset frequency of a 10 GHz frequency comb based on a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser. Octave-spanning spectra are produced in nonlinear microstructured optical fiber, in spite of the reduced peak power associated with the 10 GHz repetition rate. Improved...

Spectrally resolved optical frequency comb from a self-references 5GHz femtosecond laser

We report a mode-locked Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser with 5 GHz repetition rate. Spectral broadening of the 24 fs pulses in a microstructured fiber yields an octave-spanning spectrum and permits self-referencing and active stabilization of the emitted femtosecond laser frequency comb (FLFC). The individual modes of the 5 GHz FLFC are resolved with a high-resolution spectrometer based on a virt...

Passively mode-locked 10 GHz femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser.

We report a mode-locked Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser emitting 42 fs pulses at a 10 GHz repetition rate. When operated with a spectrally integrated average power greater than 1 W, the associated femtosecond laser frequency comb contains approximately 500 modes, each with power exceeding 1 mW. Spectral broadening in nonlinear microstructured fiber yields comb elements with individual powers grea...

Compact, Ti:sapphire-based, methane-stabilized optical molecular frequency comb and clock.

A compact optical clock and frequency comb system is presented, based on a 1 GHz octave-spanning Ti:sapphire laser referenced to the F2(2)(P(7),v3) optical transition in methane at 3.39 microm. The reference methane transition is accessed by a stabilized HeNe laser in a compact transportable format. The output from the octave-spanning Ti:sapphire laser is used to generate a mid-IR comb at the r...
